2014 Oscars Fashion Recap
The Academy Awards represent the culmination of a year of hard work and planning (much like a wedding!). Also similar to weddings, there are countless gorgeous gowns for us to ogle over in blissful fashion envy. This year, the industry’s best and brightest came out in full fashion force with some of our favorite red carpet looks that we have ever seen. With bridal style taking on more of an editorial edge than ever, soon-to-be-brides have access to similar high-fashion looks that can elevate their wedding day style. We have selected a few of our favorite Oscar night looks that we think, with a little color tweaking, would make the perfect transition from walking the red carpet to walking down the aisle. For more wedding day style, be sure to check out our fashion editorial gallery as well!
To start, two of our absolute favorite leading ladies gave each other a run for their money on the red carpet and in the Oscar running. While Lupita (in Prada) took home the prize for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, we think that Jennifer looks just as lovely in Dior. Lupita’s sheer Prada gown would be so flattering, while Jennifer’s partial peplum is right on trend. While these hues are stunning, we believe that they would make gorgeous wedding gowns in white.
Best Actress nominees Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock were equally radiant on Sunday night. Cate’s gorgeous Armani gown was one of the best of the evening, and certainly doesn’t need any imagination to venture into a wedding day ensemble. Sandra’s stunning Alexander McQueen gown was fit for Hollywood royalty. The sweetheart neckline and perfectly draped sash were absolutely stunning and immaculately paired with her hair and makeup.
Another best dressed of the evening was the always amazing Kate Hudson in Versace. The gown is flawlessly draped with just the right amount of bling. While the neckline isn’t ideal for bridal style, we think everything else is the bee’s knees, especially for an art deco or Gatsby themed fete.
Jenna Tatum, wife of Channing, wore a Reem Acra gown that looks like something out of our wedding day fairytale. The illusion neckline, sparkle and oodles of delicate ruffles make this gown a top contender for our dream wedding gown.
Not to be ignored, the gents showed up in their Sunday best as well, and a few stood out to us as some top notch menswear looks. Big winner Jared Leto elevated the white dinner jacket with a handsome burgundy bow tie, while Kevin Spacey wore a classic silhouette in a daring color that had us swooning. Would you dress your man in either of these stylish styles for your wedding day?
