Eco-Friendly Bridal Shower
Going green is the hottest trend in wedding parties this year. Bride to be Amber Rogers, ready to celebrate in style, arrived at her eco-friendly bridal shower decked out in an organic cotton dress and recycled leather sandals.
Guests received a small biodegradable box filled with a seed packet and an invitation printed on recycled paper to announce the event. Held in the lush, tropical atrium at the Embassy Suites Crabtree in Raleigh, the atmosphere of this exotic environment fit the theme of the party perfectly.
Executive chef, Robert Chase researched the organic inspired menu extensively and used all local and organic products, right down to the Chardonnay from Sheldon Vineyards in Dobson, NC. Heirloom tomato salad layered with Chevre cheese and topped with a lavender honey vinaigrette served in a mini bamboo steamer prepared guests palettes for the entree– pecan encrusted chicken with sweet potato au gratin and spaghetti squash. Dessert consisted of fresh poached pears in white scuppernong wine served with a red scuppernong wine reduction and whipped mascarpone cheese.
To reduce the amount of waste, linens, china and flatware were rented from a local party store. The event was exquisitely decorated with certified Floreverde flowers, signifying that the flowers had been grown in a sustainable way with only environmentally friendly pesticides on farms where workers have earned a living wage under conditions that are humane. All of the gorgeous centerpieces were repurposed courtesy of The Flower Shuttle and donated to the local chapter of the Ronald McDonald House after the event.
Each guest received a custom made program created with recycled paper that explained how every party detail fit the earth-friendly theme right down to the evening’s menu and the games that would be played. Favors consisted of a bag full of environmentally friendly goodies such as an adorable re-usable tote bag for groceries, eco-savvy detergent from Seventh Generation organic skin care products, a delicious decorative cookie and a plantable tree from the arbor foundation.
