Real NC Wedding : Deborah & Phil From Orangerie Events
I’m blessed to work with couples who want a wedding that parties outside of the cookie cutter box. Their big days are bursting from start to finish with playfulness and meaningful details. The ambiance is a direct reflection of their laid-back, good-hearted and cheerful personalities.
Deborah and Phil lived out of state and wanted help planning their wedding in Raleigh at the Stockroom 230 in downtown Raleigh. Deborah wanted her wedding and reception to be filled with shabby chicness. I was beyond excited to be a part of her wedding.
The couple had a crew of family and friends ready and willing to assist with transforming the Stockroom into a magical wedding wonderland on the day before the wedding. The bride’s close friend Sharon of Crafted Details took the reins on constructing handmade confetti curtains, a crepe paper ceremony backdrop and hanging poms. Upon entering, guests were greeted with a DIY Photo Booth using a ribbon backdrop we created by purchasing and cutting bulk fabric and tying the strips around a dowel rod. Brides and Bouquets provided the gorgeous floral arrangements and fresh cut stems. See those adorable wooden planters used as centerpieces? My oh-so-talented dad built those especially for this wedding.
Rocky Top Catering served an amazing meal and even coordinated their set up to match the decor with elements like hanging chalkboards to signify the various drinks. We added some flair to the cupcakes and wedding cake provided by The Cupcake Shoppe by adorning them with mini-cupcake flags and poms. To complete the overall look, three gorgeous chandeliers were hanging center aisle from the exposed beams at the Stockroom. (The chandeliers were purchased at antique stores for pennies and re-painted in soft pastel colors to match the decor.)
It was so exciting to watch as guests moved from area to area to look at the various decor and details. Deborah and Phil were one of the most relaxed and easy-going couples on their wedding day and it was a pleasure to work with them. I can’t thank Emily Ivey with Fresh Ivey Photography for the stunning photographs of the couple and their wedding day. It’s a wedding planner’s dream to work with a photographer who willingly captures the behind-the-scenes and all of the little details.
