Pop Art Bachelorette Party at Mark Christopher Salon
What a P-ART-Y! Bachelorette Party Inspiration
In addition to coining the foretelling phrase “15 minutes of fame,” cultural icon Andy Warhol also gave the world his colorful pop art perspective that defined an era. This slice of cultural phenomena inspired a fun and fabulous Warhol-inspired bachelorette party, artfully executed by Wedding Planner Joye Speight of Virtue Event Planning. The entire party was photographed by Craven Creative Photography, who captured all of the fun details and vibrant colors.
Kristy Timberlake of Opus 1 Weddings, custom wedding paper designers, created a custom p-ART-y invitation that nested inside a metallic petal fold pocket, topped with a velum overlay featuring the one and only Marilyn Monroe. The bundle was wrapped in a satin purple ribbon belly-band, finished with a Marilyn seal, and nestled into an envelope with its own custom pop-art envelope liner.
The event venue, Mark Christopher Salon, has a chic and modern décor that was the perfect complement to Joye’s design choices, which were inspired by Warhol’s most recognizable and iconic works of art. North Carolina wedding florist Doug Odom of the Purple Poppy Florist created the unique flower arrangements, which included distinctive blooms in vibrant shades of green, yellow, pink and orange. With the addition of fuchsia up-lighting provided by McSound Productions, the salon was bursting with color that was evocative of Warhol’s signature style.
Food Ideas for Bachelorette Parties
Fabulous food and drinks helped create a festive party atmosphere that even the notorious socialite Andy Warhol would have enjoyed. Rocky Top Catering created a custom menu for the evening, drawing on the colors and eccentricity of the theme. Chef Andy first chose a dish of roasted yellow and red beets layered with goat cheese and spicy pecans, displayed in repetition – homage to a central motif of Warhol’s work. The second course was a fresh summer salad of lush berries, mandarin oranges and cranberry goat cheese, all served inside of magenta radicchio cups.
Guests were styled for a fun girls’ night out by the salon’s talented staff, while enjoying shrimp ceviche shots with mango, avocado and cilantro. The final course was a delicious tuna and salmon roll with toasted sesame and carrot daikon salad, while a surprise treat of cantaloupe and watermelon sorbet with mint foam was a piece of edible art in itself.
Drink Ideas for Bachelorette Parties
Throughout the night, the ladies made use of a “Make Your Own Cosmo” bar, which was staged with custom pop-art décor, from the labels on the mini-vodka bottles to the lining of the martini tray.
The delectable dessert bar by Brie Marrow of Cake Couture was a smorgasbord of enticing treats. Guests enjoyed fun-filled sweets including Pineapple Moscato Jello Shots, Spiced Jamaican Rum Mini Cupcakes, Limoncello Macaroons, artful Amaretto Almond Cookies, as well as colorful fruit tarts, Peach Schnapps peach cobbler, strawberry margarita parfaits, “It’s a Party” flavored cake pops, and last but not least, a color-blocked vanilla butter cake with a kaleidoscopic surprise inside.

Opus 1 Weddings also created pop-art Marilyn Monroe vignettes in the purple and chartreuse color scheme to carry the theme throughout the salon. For favors, Joye was inspired by the iconic screen print series 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans, so Opus designed customized labels for the quintessential cans, which were filled to the brim with luxurious hair products from Mark Christopher Salon.
The party ended with the ladies looking and feeling fabulous with hair and makeup by Mark Christopher Salon, ready for a night on the town to celebrate the bride’s engagement. – WM2014
