REAL NC WEDDINGS: Nick & Madison ~ Opulent Southern Charm
The beautiful Sutherland Estate and Gardens in Wake Forest, NC provided the perfect backdrop for Madison and Nick to get married. The 18th-century estate is surrounded by stately oak and magnolia trees and lush gardens, set the tone for Madison and Nick’s one of kind wedding with an elegant, yet Southern country vibe.
Madison walked down the aisle in a breath-taking gown from Madison James Bridal from New York Bride and Groom of Raleigh. The stunning dress featured a heavily beaded halter front, with lace insets on the side. The plunging back was accented with lace and jewels and the bodice-hugging gown flared out into a wide skirt past the knees. Madison wore her hair in loose waves, topped by a small crown of jewels and a veil pinned at the back. She carried a striking bouquet of cream flowers with plenty of greenery. Nick donned a black suit with a black vest and white tie. A simple boutonniere, pocket square, and shiny, black shoes completed his sharp, yet sophisticated look.
The bride and groom had 10 attendants each. The bridesmaids wore gold, glittery gowns from Badgley Mischka from Saks 5th Avenue. The form-fitting dresses featured halter tops and long skirts. Some carried bouquets of pink flowers, and others boasted bouquets of cream baby’s breath and greenery. The merry groomsmen wore black suits with black vests with black shirts. They had unique champagne ties, simple boutonnieres and matching pocket squares.
The couple married outside on an open altar surrounded by perfectly manicured trees and shrubs, while guests sat in white, wooden chairs on a picture perfect green lawn. The weather was ideal for the special day, which the couple had long planned to be the storybook celebration of becoming husband and wife.
After the ceremony, guests moved inside the Sutherland Estate where the reception exuded the same mix of Southern charm and elegance as all other aspects of the wedding. The room featured exposed brick, wooden beams, and large windows, and it was decorated by strings of lights, giving it the feel of a farmhouse wedding. Yet the tables were covered in silver, glittering linens and floral centerpieces, adding touches of polished opulence.
DJ HaryNation provided the entertainment, keeping guests dancing the night away on the glossy, black-and-white checkerboard dance floor, making for unforgettable photos. One of the big events of the night was the cutting of the gorgeous, three-tier wedding cake. The top layer featured a smooth white finish, the middle layer had a smooth pink finish, and the bottom layer was covered in large, cream icing flowers. The cake was topped with a small bouquet of pink flowers, cream baby’s breath, and greenery.
The celebration went on into the late hours, when the sun had long set and only the stars were out for light. The grounds of the estate were decorated with clusters of lights that mimicked the stars above, creating a truly magical effect.
Nick and Madison were cheered by guests as they left under a canopy of sparklers. It was a night to remember for the couple and their family and friends, and the ceremony and reception proved to be everything they hoped it would.
