Real NC Weddings: A Rustic Romance at The Barn of Chapel Hill
Some say that marriages are made in heaven, and for Caroline and Travis, the signs couldn’t have been clearer. Both were leaving for a mission trip when they met by chance in the airport. Both said that God had called them to a mission, to “go and tell the nations,” and their faith helped to build a strong foundation for their relationship, which would flourish and ultimately lead to their marriage on lovely day in June at The Barn of Chapel Hill.
A Perfect Proposal ~ Travis proposed in November at Hanging Rock State Park after the couple had been dating for some time, much of it long distance. They wasted no time in getting started planning the wedding, and settled on The Barn of Chapel Hill quickly. Caroline dreamed of a wedding that combined Southern charm and elegance, and The Barn embodied that spirit perfectly. Inside, The Barn boasts exposed beams, beautiful hardwoods, and iron chandeliers.
A Lovely Affair Weddings and Events helped coordinate the wedding and reception, and the day was executed beautifully. The bride and groom were married under a beautiful wooden pergola adorned with lush greenery and blossoms of cream and peach. Caroline wore an ivory gown, and her bridesmaids donned soft sage dresses. The groom wore a sharp charcoal gray suit (the new black!), as did the merry groomsmen.
What a Wonderful World ~ The reception was adorned in touches of peach, sage, tan, and copper to complement the organic elements that were used throughout the wedding and reception décor. Guests arrived at the reception to find their names charted on a large map of the world, and their cards took them to tables named after countries that the bride and groom had visited. It was very important to Caroline and Travis that their mission work was reflected in their wedding celebration, and the setup for the guest tables was one way that they could do just that.
39 West Catering served the meal, and The Barn provided the florals for the centerpieces. In addition to collections of wildflowers, roses, and greenery, the centerpieces also included organic accents like cross cuts of tree stumps, small pieces of pottery, and uniquely framed photos of country maps. The bride and groom sat at a large feasting table with eighteen of their closest friends, and the table was adorned with a runner of beautiful greenery and select blooms. Striking copper chairs offered a touch of class, and candles created a romantic and intimate atmosphere.
Donuts and Dancing ~ When the meal was over, guests enjoyed Duck Donuts as a sweet treat, and then they danced the night away to tunes spun by Kent Blom of the Bunn DJ Co. Zack Hamby Photography captured beautiful shots of the couple and their loved ones, preserving precious memories of this special day. At the end of the night, Caroline and Travis walked under an arch of sparklers held by the guests.
For Caroline and Travis, the day embodied love, family, and friendship, which the couple cherish. It was an incredible day and a wonderful way to start their lives together.
