Real NC Weddings: Sophisticated Simplicity at The Preston Woodall House
Kayla & Ryan
Gorgeous. Classic. Timeless. Those are just a few of those words describing the wedding of Kayla and Ryan in Benson, NC.
The beautiful Preston Woodall House set the tone for the elated couple’s sophisticated and elegant wedding. The Queen Ann-style bed and breakfast is fully decked out with historic furnishings, art, and moldings to transport guests back to the turn of the 20th century in which it was built. Kayla and Ryan wanted a classic wedding, and the Preston Woodall House fit their vision perfectly. The ornate home boasts lush gardens and a lavish ballroom, making it the ideal location for the couple’s ceremony and reception.
The Dress Dreams are Made Of ~ Kayla walked down the aisle in a stunning crystal-studded wedding gown made by Sherri Hill. The white gown featured a sweetheart neckline topped by a sheer halter encrusted with crystals, beads, and gemstones in an elaborate design. The back was completely sheer and covered in an ornate pattern of gemstones and crystals. The same stones embroidered a belt around the waist, connecting a billowy yet light skirt. Ryan saw Kayla in her gown during a special first look captured by Carolina MediaStar. Ryan described the moment as “like looking at a princess in a dream.” The couple took beautiful photos together in the gardens, capturing their first moments as husband and wife.
The Ceremony ~ Wedding director Nick Ammons led the ceremony, which was an intimate affair in the gardens outside the house. The couple were married by the Rev. Kris Weiss under a patio adorned with chiffon swags and dripping in ivory flowers and greenery. The breath taking flowers, shrubs, native plants, and trees of the garden created a secluded oasis that made the couple feel like they had a fairy tale wedding amongst their closest family and friends.
A Reception to Remember ~ After the ceremony, guests moved to the main part of the Preston Woodall House to mingle. Then they moved into the Cora Lily Grand Ballroom for the reception, which was decorated with beautiful centerpieces from Jeffrey’s Florist, gold and ivory satin linens, and the stately historic draperies and lighting fixtures of the home. The tables were set with opulent centerpieces set atop tall, crystal candelabras and dripping with crystal swags. The flowers were similar to those used in the ceremony, containing different blooms in shades of white and accented with plenty of greenery. Guests enjoyed a decadent meal prepared by Dion Matthis, the executive chef of the Preston Woodall House.
A Farewell into Forever ~ DJ Jeff Simpson played lovely and lively music throughout the night for guests to dance. Kayla and Ryan enjoyed waltzing through the ballroom in each other’s arms, reveling in the romance of the night. They made their exit at the end of the night by ascending the grand staircase of the Preston Woodall House hand in hand.
From the moment they arrived at the house, Ryan and Kayla said they felt pampered. It was the perfect start to their new lives together.
