Real Wedding: Colby & Clay – The Bold and the Beautiful
Though there were plenty of sparks on their first date, it wasn’t exactly love at first sight for Colby and Clay. They had actually been friends for a while before they started dating. But Colby asked Clay to be her date to a sorority function, and the rest was history. After seven years of dating, Clay proposed to Colby on the same beach where he once asked her to be his girlfriend.
They married at The Sutherland Estates and Gardens when the temperatures were falling, but their boho chic winter wedding theme made it feel like springtime in winter. Plenty of flowers and greenery created the atmosphere of a woodland secret garden. The couple said their “I do”s on a stone altar before a row of evergreens and a rustic, wooden cross-draped with flowers.
Colby looked radiant in an Elizabeth Dye Mohave gown. The white lace gown had flowing sleeves, a plunging neckline, and an open back and the skirt fell loosely at her sides and trailed behind her in a soft train. She wore her hair pulled back at the nape and topped by a floral head piece custom made by florist Kelly Odom. The crown included sprays of greenery, white roses, and other flowers. Colby carried a large bouquet of wild flowers, plenty of greenery, and garnet flowers. A spray of garnet flowers trailed down from the bouquet. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in garnet and silver and carried bouquets that were a smaller version of the bride’s. Clay and his groomsmen wore navy suits with lavender shirts and deep purple ties.
Sara Talley played the violin during the moving and intimate ceremony, which was officiated by Pastor Rick Clayton. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour cigar bar provided by Abbie’s Tobacco Shop.
Inside The Sutherland Estate, the reception was decorated with rustic farm tables provided by Themeworks Creative, black lanterns, and votives set in tall glass holders. The unusual and striking centerpieces included florals with dark green, waxy leaves. Christy Ethridge with The Sutherland Estates and Gardens helped plan the details for the ceremony and reception, and everything came together beautifully. The couple also included personal touches throughout, such as a handkerchief that the bride’s father gave her that said, “I will always be here to catch every tear. Love, Daddy.”
Rocky Top Catering provided the reception meal, and Details Cake Design created the wedding cake. The four-tier cake featured a nude frosting design, and it was garnished with plenty of wild flowers and greenery. Lighting and other florals and greenery helped frame the table, creating a wonderful presentation for the cake.
After the feasting and heartfelt toasts, guests enjoyed dancing into the night. The band Horizon, booked through Sam Hill Entertainment, provided the entertainment, and they kept the crowd hopping. Photographer Mike Anderson was there to capture all the special moments for the couple to treasure.
Colby and Clay made their grand exit at the end of the night through an archway of sparklers held by their family and friends.
