Real Wedding: John and Carrie – New Year Nuptials!
John and Carrie may have grown up in different states, but found true love right here in North Carolina.
The couple left the interior of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church simple. Florals in blush, golds, and neutrals marked the end of each aisle, and simple arrangements in the same shades sat on either side of the altar. Gold and white lanterns lined the aisle.
Carrie walked up the aisle alone in a gorgeous white wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline and a full skirt. Intricate lace detailing filled in the bodice and down through the skirt. Carrie’s bouquet included roses, phalenopsis orchids, roses, and other blooms. It had a classic shape with some variety in texture for a unique design.
The bridesmaids wore champagne gowns with halter necklines that tied in a bow at the neck. They carried round bouquets with many of the same blooms as Carrie’s, minus the orchids. John wore a classic black tux with a white shirt and black bowtie. His groomsmen wore the same.
The reception was held at The Oaks at Salem, and it was decorated in the same clean and contemporary design. Carrie loves a little bling, but she didn’t want anything as garish as rhinestones. Instead, subtle details like mirrors and gold accents were used to create a little more glitter without going over the top.
Letterpress and gold foil were used on details like the table cards and menus, and mirrors were used for the bar signs, guest book signs, welcome sign, table numbers, and other décor. Tables were dressed in creamy, satin linens and floral centerpieces that mimicked the look of the bouquets. Gold chivari chairs were at each setting, and twinkle lights hung overhead. The bridal table was dressed in a tablecloth made of fabric flowers.
214 Martin Street provided the catering, which included raw oysters – a must for the groom. Guests ate under a tent set up under the night stars, and candlelight created a romantic atmosphere. The beautiful cake from Edible Art was a sweet ending to the meal. The five-tiered creation included a different design for each level. Pink ruffles, gold ribbon, tiny pearls, and other elegant details came together for one unique design. Guests also enjoyed tuxedo-designed macaroons as a treat to take home. A cigar and bourbon bar was available, as well.
Guests cut a rug on a black and white dance floor while Java/East Coast Entertainment played the tunes that kept them up on their feet.
At the end of the night, John and Carrie made their getaway through an archway of sprinklers held by guests. The stars shimmered in the night sky above them. They then hopped into a car provided by EcoStyle to start their new life together. Kate Pope Photography was there to capture all the special moments from the celebration.
