Real Wedding: Martha & Ben – Happily Ever After
Once upon a time, Martha and Ben met when they were just pre-teens in Sunday school. Then they started dating the summer before their sophomore year of high school. Ben proposed after they graduated high school under a gigantic frame that he had built to display pictures, notes, and other mementos from their eight years together. On a beautiful Saturday after Thanksgiving, they were married and began their happily ever after.
Martha and Ben married at 214 Martin in a stunning morning wedding. Ben wrote all the music that was played before the wedding, as well as the ceremony music. Martha didn’t know what music would be played until she was walking down the aisle. Friends played the keyboard and flutes, making for a special, personalized performance.
Martha wore a beautiful white gown with a lace bodice and long, lace sleeves. She carried a bouquet of dusty rose, champagne and burgundy blooms with plenty of wild greenery. Nestled in the bouquet was a special brooch in honor of her maternal grandmother. Her bridesmaids wore full-length, dark green gowns with different silhouettes. Ben sported a handsome grey, three-piece suit with a dark green tie and brown shoes. His groomsmen wore matching ensembles.
After the wedding, guests were treated to a coffee hour with hors d’oeuvres while the space was prepared for the reception. Guests could choose from a variety of espressos and cappuccinos from two different beverage bars. Martha and Ben love coffee, and they also provided a small burlap bag of coffee as a favor. A note attached to the favors read: “Martha and Ben: The perfect blend.” The seat cards for the reception seating were also placed in white trays on top of coffee beans.
The reception was decorated in the same colors of dusty rose, champagne, and burgundy, with plenty of pops of greenery. Table décor included milk jugs and small vases filled with ruscus, sweetheart roses, and wax flowers surrounded by votives. A mini newspaper was laid at each place setting with the headline “The Perfect Blend.” It told the story of the couple’s long-time love affair.
The brunch menu included a variety of favorites, including shrimp and grits, bacon, sausage, gluten-free pancakes, eggs, potatoes, and fruit. After the meal, guests toasted the couple and enjoyed a slice of the beautiful wedding cake, which was decorated simply in a white icing with a ruffled texture. Sprays of greenery and florals were the perfect decoration.
One of the groomsman played the guitar and a family friend sang while Martha and Ben shared their first dance as husband and wife. Then guests had a chance to cut a rug on the dance floor and celebrate with the couple.
Forward Fig Events helped plan the celebration and oversee all the details for the day, and Ana Teresa Photography captured all the memorable moments.
Martha and Ben left to cheers from their guests, who threw bird seed. They walked down cobblestone streets to get into their getaway car and speed off to their honeymoon in Asheville.
