Real Weddings: Itzy and Jordan – A Blue Devil Love Story
Itzy and Jordan met at Duke University, so the campus held special memories. When it came time to celebrate their beautiful love story and to join their lives together, they could think of no better place than the campus that let fate take its course. They were married in the Duke Chapel on July 22.
Itzy wore a strapless gown from New York Bride and Groom of Raleigh that featured a heavily embroidered and beaded bodice. The flowing skirt featured multiple layers of fabric in tiered levels. She carried a bouquet of soft pink and cream blooms from TreBella. Her bridesmaids wore soft pink gowns with full-length skirts that floated softly above the ground. Hair and makeup was by Posh Salon.
Jordan and his groomsmen wore navy suits with pale pink vests and boutonnieres. Jordan wore a tie, and his groomsmen wore bowties. Father Michael Martin presided over the ceremony and declared the couple husband and wife.
After the beautiful ceremony, the guests moved to the Nasher Museum of Art for the reception. Itzy and Jordan chose to have the reception there since it was where they had their first date – as well as many more to follow. The tables were draped with navy linens and named for places on campus that were special to the couple. Tables were decorated with tall, clear vases and big bouquets of cream and soft pink florals. Gold accents were sprinkled throughout the décor, such as the gold chairs at each of the tables. And, of course, the exhibits at the Nasher provided a gorgeous backdrop to the festivities.
Durham Catering provided the dinner buffet. Items on the menu included chicken cooked under a brick, brown butter-roasted flat iron steak, potato gnocchi, grilled vegetable salad, frisee, and house rustic bread. Appetizers included southern favorites like devilled eggs, pimento cheese crostini, shrimp cocktail, and pork sliders.
After dinner, the couple cut the beautiful wedding cake, which featured three ivory tiers with simple scalloping and garnishes of fresh cream flowers. A dessert bar was also offered that included mini crème brulee bites, berry tarlets, coconut macaroons dipped in chocolate, and tiramisu.
Guests that were still able to cut a rug after filling up on all the delicious treats were led by beats played by a DJ from Eddie Leonard Productions. The night included many fun moments, like the groom and friends serenading the bride before throwing the garter. At the end of the night, Itzy and Jordan made a stylish exit down a row of sparklers against the dark sky. They hopped in a luxury antique provided by Lifestyle Limo, and drove off with the roof down and the wind in their hair. Guests were given a special candle as a memento of the night.
A Lovely Affair Weddings and Events was there through it all, helping to make sure that every detail was executed to perfection. It was a magical night for Itzy and Jordan, as well as their newly formed family.
