Weddings Magazine Real NC Wedding: Amber & Johnny – FLAWLESS MODERN ELEGANCE
They met by chance, but it wasn’t a love connection right away. After they met at a beach music concert series in Raleigh in the summer of 2010, they were “just friends” for another two years before starting to date. They discovered they had some connections, like both graduating from N.C. State University, but they had never met before that summer night. But they joined their lives together forever after four years of dating, one beautiful proposal in Duke Gardens, and a wedding ceremony in front of family and friends on June 10.
The day before the wedding, Amber convened with her bridesmaids for a celebratory luncheon at Coquette in North Hills, the same location where she met Johnny all those years earlier. Amber and Johnny got together with family and friends later that night for a rehearsal dinner at the City Club in the Wells Fargo building in downtown Raleigh.
On the morning of the wedding, Amber and her bridesmaids went to The Glass Box in downtown Raleigh to prepare for the ceremony. She wore a strapless Stella York white gown with a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice, and a skirt that flared from the knees and extending into the train. The gown was accented with lace overlays and a crystal-and-pearl encrusted belt, and she wore it with a full-length cathedral veil worn by her mother at her 1984 wedding. She carried a bouquet of cream roses, as did the bridesmaids, who wore strapless, blush chiffon gowns. Johnny and his groomsmen wore black tuxes with black bow ties and rose boutonnieres. Flawless!
Amber and Johnny were married at the First Presbyterian Church on Salisbury Street in Raleigh. The happy couple were joined by six attendants each, plus one flower girl and a bevy of excited family and friends.
After the wedding, guests moved to the ever-popular Park Alumni Center on N.C. State’s Centennial Campus. The reception was decorated in a “modern elegance” theme with white roses, white hydrangeas, and white linens that were complemented by the white marble floors and gorgeous chandeliers at The City Club. Kelly Odom Flowers provided the arrangements for the reception and the bouquets for the ceremony.
Guests enjoyed a delectable meal served by the catering staff at The Park Alumni Center. The meal included chicken, pork tenderloin with herb-roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables, and a plated green salad. Later, the bride and groom cut an exquisite four-tiered wedding cake created by Edible Art Bakery in Raleigh. The cake was decorated in smooth, white buttercream, fresh-cut roses on the top, and a few fresh-cut roses at the sides.
While guests mingled and danced the night away, Lindsey Lee Photography of Concord moved throughout the reception hall capturing pictures of all the festivities. Meanwhile, Brian Bunn of Charlotte provided the videography, ensuring that Amber and Johnny would be able to enjoy these moments for years to come.
At the end of the night, Johnny and Amber walked through a sparkler archway created by guests. It was a magical night for them both and a wonderful way to begin their lives as husband and wife.
